David Lee Sandifer was called by God to eternal rest and peace on April 19, 2019. He was born in Mound Bayou, Mississippi to Levonia and Evelina Sandifer on July 25, 1943. He was the first and oldest child in the family and had 2 siblings, Rose (Linda) and Lester. The family moved to Cleveland, Ohio when David was two years old. David attended Kinsman Elementary, Rawlings, Jr. High (where he ran track) East Technical High School and Cuyahoga Community College. He served in the United States Air Force from 1960 to1964. In 1962, he married Patricia Stephens. To this union two children were born, Dawn and David.
David worked for General Motors at the Chevrolet Plant in Parma, Ohio, radio station WJMO (where he was well-known as “Dave Love”), the City of Cleveland as a Building Inspector, and HUD as a service contractor.
He is best remembered for his love of playing cards, his variety of brims, his love for jazz, and his rambunctious laugh. You could always tell when he was in the vicinity.
David went home to be with the Lord on April 19, 2019, while hospitalized in the VA Hospital. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Levonia Sandifer and Evelina Sandifer Denson. He is survived by his children, Dawn and David, granddaughter, Anesia Sandifer, grandson, Austin Sandifer, and great-granddaughter, Bailee Sandifer, his siblings, Rose (Linda) Larry and Lester Sandifer along with a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
