Davis Harris Oden (Duke) was born in 1939, in Talladega Springs, Alabama, the youngest of 11 children of the late Willie Moses and Iolue Oden. He was a graduate of Central High School in Akron Ohio. He served in the United States Army as a Paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division.
Davis was employed as a Tire Builder at Firestone, Maintenance Technician at Goodyear Aerospace-Loral, and served as Union Steward at both companies.
At home, Duke enjoyed building, remodeling, and landscaping always making a beautiful home inside and out. Davis touched many lives. He was a true friend, a trusted colleague, mentor, and beloved family member.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Moses and Iolue Oden; sisters and brothers-in-law, Eula and Cilvester Miles, Kathleen (Kitty) and Cornelius Powe, Leola and London Stone, and Mary Finney; brothers and sisters-in-law, Willie and Shirley Oden, Herman and Geraldine Oden, Arnold Oden, and John Oden.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Ethel Oden; brother, Donald Oden, brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Tina Oden, especially close nephew, Arnold Oden Jr., and beloved sister-in-law, Cecelia Oden, many nieces, nephews, and cousins who were all his children in his kind and loving heart along with a host of other family members and friends.
