He was born March 3, 1948, and was the first child of the late John Smith and Shirley Oden; his step-fathers, Willie Oden, and Leo King. John attended South High School. Deacon John H. Oden was caught up in the rapture on October 25, 2018. He was born March 3, 1948, and was the first child of the late John Smith and Shirley Oden; his step-fathers, Willie Oden, and Leo King.
John attended South High School. He worked for the Borden Milk Company and Ambassador Cleaning Company. He played the drums for the Christian All Stars, Frank Tate & The New Heavy Weights out of New York City and Living for Christ Ministries & Blood Wash Band. John also worked for Evangelist Apostle Sam Sales and Bernard Lawson.
John was preceded in death by his daughter, Terry Taylor; brothers, Dewey & Chauncey Oden; mother, Shirley Oden; fathers, John, Willie & Leo.
He leaves to mourn his passing, wife of 50 years, Patricia L. Oden; sons, Norman, Jackie, DeShawn and John-John; brothers, Richard (Jossett) Oden and Willie A. Oden; sister, Sandra Smith; grandchildren, ShaJuana, Desteny, Cristin and Diamond; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and brother-in-law, Norman & Eric Taylor and friends; Rex Oliver and Warren.
