Debbie Johnson was born on Thursday, June 18th,1959 in Hamilton, Ohio to the union of Marvin and Brenda Frances Johnson (whom preceded her in death). She departed this life on Monday, February 3rd, 2020. She received Christ at an early age, and re- dedicated her life at Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church in Lyndhurst, Ohio in 2019. Where she became an active member and was one of the proudest moments of her life .
She moved to Cleveland as a teen with mom and sisters ,where she attended John Hay High School from 1974-1977. There she excelled in sports such as track and field, and basketball. She also had an active social life built within numerous clubs and organizations on and off campus. Shortly after graduation in 1974, she gained full time employment with Mt. Sinai Medical Center. She worked diligently within many areas, until their closing in winter of 2000. It was there that she met the love of her life Mr. Bruce Banks. Over the years their relationship would remain strong, and flourish into a beautiful engagement. The proposal was the happiest moment of her life, not only was the ring an honor, it was a symbol of their love and commitment to one another.
Debbie enjoyed all Cleveland sports teams, however, her passion was the Cleveland Browns. She loved tail gating, or meeting up with friends to watch the game. She never missed a game nor season. To her the Super Bowl was a national holiday.
She could spark up a conversation with almost anyone and quiet them down without little to no effort and ease. Conversation was her strongest suit, followed by the gift of laughter. She loved a spirited conversation and her gift of laughter was infectious, you’d laugh even when you did not want to.
Debbie adored her host of nieces, nephews, and god-children immensely. But nothing could top the overwhelming love, affection and protection she had for her siblings, nothing could break nor penetrate this bond. Their togetherness in life and death will remain unchanged. Despite having a host of nieces, nephews, greats and god-children she still managed to attended all school activities, games, stage plays, promotions, graduations, and weddings.
She leaves to rejoice and celebrate her life, her loving fiancé Bruce Banks of Richmond Heights, Ohio; brother Alfonzo Johnson Sr whom preceded her in death (Tiny); Gloria Johnson, Cassandra D. Johnson-Griffin (Phil), Trenda Johnson-Morrow (Richard) all of Cleveland,Ohio, and Marvella Johnson of Cincinnati, Ohio. 14 nieces and nephews, 23 great nieces and nephews, and a host of god-children, family and friends.
Debbie was loved by all that knew her, and you immediately loved her, she will be truly missed.
