Deborah Marsha Hogan was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 27, 1950, to the union of the late Harold and Ruby Lane; also preceding her in death, her sister Marla Lane. Deborah peacefully passed away October 25, 2023, in the comfort of her home in Maple Heights, Ohio. Deborah grew up in Cleveland and was a product of the City of Cleveland Public Schools system; she also attended Tri-C; Cuyahoga Community College to study Dietary Technology.
Deborah attended and was a member of St. Henry’s Church and after closure of the church, she continued to commit herself to Christ.
Deborah’s profession included many interactions with the public where she built and maintained relationships over the years. She started in retail and held many positions such as sales associate, merchandiser, and manager at May Company, Higbee’s, Halle’s, and Frederick’s of Hollywood. She switched professions in 1981 and built a career with the City of Cleveland’s 4th District Police Department where she worked as a patrol officer and sometimes did office personnel at the Justice Center in Cleveland. Deborah worked for the City of Cleveland for 33 ½ years, retiring in December of 2014.
Deborah and Charles Boddy were married from 1969 to 1971 and to this union Charlotte Boddy was born. In 1987, Deborah and Gary Hogan met and married on July 12, 1989. Deborah, Charlotte, Gary and his 3 daughters; Shalonda, Tameika, and Dawn became a family.
In Deborah’s spare time she loved to sing (she had a beautiful voice), listen to music, and spend time with her family. Deborah and Gary loved to attend old school concerts and have traveled extensively in the states and cruises abroad.
Deborah was loving, a very giving human being, she was organized, and always on time for the occasion. She was planful and didn’t like to be asked to do something at the last minute. She was direct, honest and a trustworthy person who you could depend on.
Deborah leaves to mourn her loving husband, Gary Hogan, her daughters Charlotte Boddy, Shalonda Hogan Anderson (Wayne), Tameika Hogan, and Dawn Hogan Topp (Jeremy), her dear sisters; Hollace Woods (Renard), Shari Carr (Larry), her grandchildren; Angel Peaks (Charles), Antonio Boddy, Aaron Boddy, Brian Hogan, Derik Horton, Diamond Horton (deceased), Daijane Hogan, Dashoun Hogan, Jahleel Dubose, Dawnye Smith, Michael Smith, Jameel Smith, Wayonna Anderson, and Grace Emma Lelia Topp, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends
