Debra Lynnetta Hill was born August 26, 1957 to the union of the late Willie Earl Hill Sr. & Betty Jane Ferguson in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the second oldest of two sisters and three brothers, one who proceeded her in death.
She attended Cleveland Public Schools, where she graduated from John Adams High School in 1975. Like her beloved Alma Mater, Debra was a true REBEL, quick to come to the defense of her family in their time of distress or need.
Debra married Johnny Lewis, and from this union, two beautiful children were born, LaKita Shalaun and Sequoia Lynnetta. On March 19, 2006, Debra joined Affinity Baptist Church. As a devoted member she served on the Usher Board. In addition to her service in the church, Debra loved bowling, cooking, making custom drapes and spending time with family. Debra was especially fond of trying new restaurants…she would always say, ‘A girls gotta eat’. Even with the many activities she loved none of those superseded the love she had for her daughters and her grandkids, which she affectionately referred to as ‘Her Heartbeats’.
Debra worked at the JC Penny’s Fabrication Center in Solon, Ohio until they closed the facility. Upon their closing, she worked for 20+ years as an Inspector at Swagelok, where she was a dedicated employee until her recent illness.
God called Debra home on March 29, 2023, where she joined her loving parents; Willie Hill, Betty Gaines & Hally Gaines (stepdad); Grandmother, Beatrice Ferguson- Henderson; Brother James Louis, and her dog, Sassy.
Her precious memories will always be cherished by her loving husband Johnny, devoted daughters LaKita & Sequoia (Harrison), one son/ nephew Cedric, two grand-daughters Kayla & Iyana, her favorite grandson Greg Jr., two sisters Sandra & Vicki, three brothers Willie Jr., Jimmy (Shenita) & Myron, three bonus children; six bonus grandchildren, Rayshawn (Casey), Deverist (Christopher), and Antonio (Dawn), four Nephews; Marcus (Aisha), Malcolm, Moses (Adrienne), Antonio, a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her loyal dog, Gynger. Debra will truly be missed!
