Delores Coleman, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, faithful servant of God, and matriarch to many, was born on September 11, 1955, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the union of Esther and Robert Burton. She was the fifth child in a family of twelve, where she learned early the values of faith, service, resilience, and unconditional love. At a young age, Delores accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, a decision that shaped the course of her life and the legacy she leaves behind.
She was a dedicated member of True Missionary Baptist Church, where her servant’s heart was evident in all she did. Delores sang joyfully in the choir, served faithfully on the usher board and nurses guild, and volunteered through the church’s Hunger Center. Her love for God was reflected in her love for people.
In 1980, Delores married the love of her life, Jerry Coleman. Their marriage of over 45 years was a living testimony of enduring love, devotion and friendship. Their bond was unmistakable—filled with playful teasing, deep affection, and unwavering support. Together, they built a beautiful life, blessed with two children, Falana Coleman Zamora and J-Var Coleman, and a beloved granddaughter, Kylah Zamora. Delores was immensely proud of her children and bonus children, and her love for them knew no bounds.
Delores had a servant’s heart and a mother’s soul. She was the caretaker of everyone’s children, a second mother to many, and a safe place for countless hearts. She volunteered in schools, provided childcare for nieces and nephews, and lived a life defined by generosity and compassion. She was unstoppable in spirit—never allowing limitations to define her, always determined to do what she set her heart to accomplish.
Known for her impeccable style, Delores loved her dashing hats, sparkling rings on every finger, and bright, rich colors. Her giggle could light up a room, her warmth made people feel seen, and her big heart made everyone feel loved. She loved to travel and dance to a good tune. A gifted baker, Delores kept mouths watering and hearts happy with her delicious cakes and cookies, which she joyfully shared with family and friends. She was competitive, full of fire, and known for her card-playing skills—showing absolutely no mercy in games of Spades and 2500.
Delores transitioned peacefully on February 8, 2026, surrounded by love and covered in grace. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Jerry Coleman; her children, Falana and J-Var (Sanita); her granddaughter, Kylah Star; her siblings Robert (Cynthia), Robert Lee (Katie), Gloria, Gertha (Willie), Pamela, Annice, Donald, Victoria (Levelle); her bonus children Winifred, Gerri (Kevin), Donald (Toi), Maurice (Asiyah); 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and dear friends.
Delores Coleman was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, friend, and servant of God. Her legacy of love, faith, strength, joy, and service will live on forever in every life she touched. She will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
