Delores Regina (Payne) Banks affectionately known as Dee to her family and friends, was born October 10, 1948, in Logan West Virginia to Robert and LaVern Payne (King). She was a caring, loving, nurturing, and great mother to her two children, Melvin Marvin Banks III, and Tawanna Michelle Banks, whom she adored. She had three grandchildren, Shanieka Michelle Banks, La’Quaysha Regina Mosley, and Melvin Marquis Banks, whom she would do anything for. She had seven great-grandchildren, Lei’Anah and Lei’Yah Nelson, Danne and Liam Evans, Lyric Gibbs, Destin, and Melaya Banks
Delores Banks graduated from South High School at the age of 17 in 1966. Upon graduation from high school, she was employed by Ohio Edison (First Energy) for 20 years (1969 to 1989). After leaving Ohio Edison, she obtained a job working at Goodyear for 5 years until she relocated to Moreno Valley, California. She pursued a career with the San Bernardino County Clerk of Courts working in the Probation Department until she retired.
Delores was baptized at an early age at Antioch Baptist Church. She was a member of Tower of Prayer COGIC for many years until moving to California.
She was an avid bowler for many years until her health declined. Anybody that new Delores knew she loved her PITTSBURGH STEELERS. You could not call her during the game, and if they lost don’t call her for a couple of days. She would tell you “off” if you said anything negative about her STEELERS. She loved to crochet and sew in her earlier years making clothes and blankets for her children. She loved to play cards and watch TV. She loved being surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a loving and caring person, especially when it came to children. She would babysit anyone’s child and get attached and start buying for them like they were her own. She was always willing to help others even when she didn’t have it.
Delores was preceded in death by her father Robert Payne, Sr.; mother, Lavern Payne (King); sister, Rose Payne, and brother, Kenneth Payne (who passed 6 days prior) and nephew, Duane Payne.
She is survived by her two loving children, Melvin Marvin (Monique) Banks III and Tawanna Michelle Banks; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her memory her brothers, Robert Payne Jr. and Ronald (Lola) Payne; sisters, Ramona Payne, Wanda Wade and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
