Deloris Ann Skipper-McCall passed from time to eternity on April 11, 2018. Deloris lovingly called “Cookie” was born in Wetumpka in Elmore County Alabama on April 21, 1943.
Deloris’ moved to Akron, OH with her parents at the age of 5 and attended Akron Public Schools. She was to become the oldest of 7 children and the mother of 7 so always the big Sister and Matriarch. A Beloved, Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Aunt, Niece, Cousin and Friend, a Community Elder and Advocate, she will be missed by so many. She was active in U.A.W Local having been employed with Chrysler Corporation Twinsburg Plant as the Maintenance Painter for 35 years retiring in 2008. She also attended Kent State University and Akron University receiving a certification in Labor Studies.
She had a robust appetite for life and living. She enjoyed traveling and music, good food and good times. Faithful and loyal to those she loved. All that knew her loved her. She was constant in her availability and generosity. Deloris was just and fair in her ways, she always sought to keep the peace and spread the Love.
Deloris was preceded in death by her daughter Gwendolyn Cheree “Sherry” Skipper-Blackwell, husband Arthur J. McCall, granddaughter Yesema McCall, sisters Pamela Skipper-Cornelius, Brenda Jammella Skipper-Cowley, and parents Robert Andrew Skipper and Charlie “Lois” Skipper and other aunts, uncles and cousins she dearly loved. She leaves to celebrate her life and legacy sons Gregory L. Skipper , Garland N. McCall, Jeffory G. McCall, Arthur “Rudy” Stovall, beloved daughter and care-taker Gavvonda L. Skipper and Minyon Stovall; 20 grandchildren: Lucien, Jillian, Pharen, Chastity, Jailand, Jatoya, Jehtaura, Monet’, Justin, Jamaica, Jiya and Jayshon, Tayshawna, Mia, Malita, Mandy, Juanita, Mesha, Calvin, and Teyaya; 24 great grandchildren, sisters Barbara J. Banks (Lansing, MI), Phoebe Skipper and Toni Skipper-Isichei and brother Robert A. Skipper, Jr. and a hosts of cousins, nieces, nephews, aunt and uncle and other relatives family and friends.
