Denise Michelle Bowen was born on May 20, 1955, to Rayfield and Thelma Bowen. She was affectionately known by her family and friends as “Neece.”

Denise was a beloved member of the North Hill Community, graduating from Akron North High School, class of 1973. She attended the University of Akron and obtained her associate degree. After, Denise began working in several Akron community organizations, such as the Community Action, before settling in as a legal secretary for Community Legal Services, where she dedicated over 20 years.

Denise had a passion for art and loved to draw and decorate. She loved to dance and had the most beautiful singing voice. She was an extraordinary cook; this made her home the gathering spot for holidays. Christmas was the annual family tradition, and it was joyous!

Denise passionately loved her sons and the family as a whole. She took tremendous pride in her last name; this made her entire family proud to share it with her. She will be missed by all who loved her.

Denise made her heavenly transition on March 23, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rayfield and Thelma Bowen; as well as her brother, Darryl Bowen (all of Akron, OH).

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her siblings, Terrence (Valerie) Bowen of Akron, OH, and Thelma Raye Bowen of Atlanta, GA; sons, Damion Bowen, and Tyler Bowen; granddaughters, Hailey Hart, and Jasmine Hart; nephews, Demond Bowen, Loren Bowen, and Revel Moore; as well as an entire community of family and friends that she impacted with her beautiful spirit along the way.
