Derick Karl Buchanan affectionately known as “Th Buck” passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, February 29, 2020.
He was born on May 22, 1962, to Mildred and Riley Buchanan. He was a 1980, graduate of John R. Buchtel High School. He was employed at Rubber Maid, Newell Company for many years. He was “truly honored” to be the chosen employee of the month twice. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and loved his “entire family” dearly.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Narcisus and Walter Buchanan, Lucille and Arthur Lockett, great-niece, Joy Janay Brophy, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He leaves to cherish his “awesome memories and love” his wife, Irma; daughter,Tameka Keys; parents, Mildred and Riley Buchanan; sister, Margaret Griffin of Tampa, FL; sister and brother-in-law, Marva and Welby Broaddus, Sr.; sister, Renee Rhone, who was “her brother’s biggest cheerleader – she was “truly team Derick”; grandsons, Tyleek and Tylarenz Keys; great-grandson, Tyleek Keys, Jr.; stepsons, Matiyah, Andrew, Terell, and Wendell Norris; sisters-in-law, Mammie Brown and Frankie Lane; aunts, Iola Rue, Addie Tyson, Lynda Lockett; uncle, Deacon Charles Lockett; nieces, Lynese Buchanan, Latoya of Tampa, FL, niece and nephew, Courtney and Jay Brophy, Jr. of Tampa, FL; nephews, Leroy, Lenarick and Charles of Tampa, FL; great-nieces, Archai, Kenyatta and Aniyah , Jazzy of Tampa, FL.; great-nephew, Jaylen of Tampa, FL.; special cousin-brother, Terry Rue of Columbus, Ohio and a host of other family and friends. He was blessed to have “special nieces and nurses,” Lynese Buchanan and Courtney Brophy assist throughout his illness “near and across the miles.”
