Dimitri Bacardi Davis, lovingly known as “Meech The DJ”, departed this world on March 30, 2024 at his home residence. Born on June 13, 1994, in Akron, Ohio, he was the only cherished child of Claudia A. Davis, and the oldest child of Darrick Stallworth.
At the early age of eight years old, Dimitri was baptized and received the gift of the Holy Spirit at First Apostolic Faith Church, under the guidance of Bishop Samuel L. Hampton Sr. He continued to attend church through his adult life, under the leadership of Bishop, Dr. Samuel L. Hampton II. Under this tutelage, Dimitri was the armor bearer for Bishop; in addition to participating on the church league basketball. On March 10, 2024, Dimitri rededicated his life to Christ, embracing his spiritual journey.
From birth to his final day, Dimitri was affectionately known as “Meech.” Throughout his life, he gained nicknames among friends, such as “Meech the DJ,” and “DJ Meech.”
Meech the DJ, began DJing at the age of sixteen years old. What sparked Meech’s attention to become a DJ was when he began to mix cd’s in middle school for house parties. Meech The DJ attributes his vision and start to becoming a DJ to Jazzy Jeff and DJ Rob Swift. He got his start DJing at local high school and private events. Meech The DJ was one of the youngest DJ’s to ever come out of Ohio.
Dimitri participated with Alchemy in junior high, DECA, Project Grad and Upward Bound in high school. During his high school years and beyond, he gained recognition for several awards. He graduated from John R. Buchtel High School (1040) with the class of 2012, being involved with Jack and Jill Beautillion (2012). He became an alumnus of Stark State (graduating in 2016 with Associates in Marketing). Later, Dimitri earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication at Kent State (graduating in 2019); both schools being located in Canton, Ohio.
Meech dedicated himself to inspiring others and actively participating in his community. From his involvement in the community, he became an entrepreneur, definitely made a lasting impact, with lawncare, car rentals, and air bed and breakfast (Airbnb). Dimitri worked for Delta Airlines until his health declined, and would not allow.
Driven by his passion for music, and the entertainment world, which extended into adulthood, he remained heavily involved in DJing for birthday parties, class reunions, weddings, proms, and spring breaks in various locations. The most memorable experience was opening up for artists and celebrities that included: Gucci Mane, Yo Gotti, Migos, Wiz Khalifa, Kevin Gates, Floyd Mayweather and a number of local artists. Meech The DJ’s highlight in 2015 was being named Detroit’s very own KashDoll’s official tour. While DJing, he performed in Akron, Youngstown, Kent, Cleveland, Columbus, OH, Atlanta, GA, Miami, Panama Beach, FL, Philadelphia, PA, Charlotte, NC, Detroit, MI, and Aniston, AL, amongst other cities.
Dimitri’s pursuits extended beyond his professional endeavors. He developed a deep love for traveling, and became an avid international traveler. The various places he visited were: Dubai, Paris, Jamaica, Amsterdam, Aruba, and Cancun, just to name a few. Furthermore, he was known for his unwavering support for the Los Angeles Lakers and his passion for the Baltimore Ravens.
Preceding Dimitri in death are his grandparents, Claude and Magnolia Davis, and cousin, Zoe Dukes.
Dimitri leaves behind a legacy of precious memories. He is survived by his devoted mother, Claudia A. Davis of Akron, Ohio, and loving father, Darrick (Tracy) Stallworth of Pelham, AL., as well as his brothers, Tyson Maddox, Montevallo, AL, Xavier Sullivan, Pelham, AL, and sister, Raykenia Bowers, Pelham, AL. He also leaves behind grandparents, Betty (Aaron) Jackson of Wilton, AL and Andrew (Michelle) Stallworth, Birmingham, AL; aunts, Cynthia D. Davis of Great Lakes, IL., Detra Stallworth of Pelham, AL, Jennifer Pasteur of Jacksonville, FL, and uncles, Michael (Tina) Nelson of Virginia Beach, VA., DeRon Stallworth of Wilton, AL and Robert Stallworth, Birmingham, AL. Dimitri will be fondly remembered by cousins, Vidal (Theresa) Nelson of Virginia Beach, VA., Dr. Tia (Jermaine) Felder of Virginia Beach, VA., Zsaria and Zion Dukes, of Pelham, AL. and an additional host of aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, god-parents, Rodney and Tracey Griggs; devoted friend, China Honorable, and other friends.
Above all else, Dimitri cherished his family unconditionally. His infectious personality drew love and admiration from all who knew him. Whenever he entered a room, he brought it to life, leaving a lasting impact on those around him. Dimitri’s inspirational spirit touched people from all walks of life.
Although we mourn the loss of Dimitri, we celebrate the vibrant life he lived. He will be remembered as a beloved son, nephew, cousin, and friend. His legacy of love, inspiration, and community engagement will continue to resonate within our hearts. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
