Dion Donnata Boyer was born on February 2, 1952, in Cleveland, Ohio to Constance T Byrant and J.D. McCann.
Dion graduated from Collinwood High School (Class of ‘69) and was first in her family to earn a college degree (B.A. in Psychology from Case Western Reserve University, Class of ‘77).
It was at Case that she met David R. Boyer (m. 1974-1981). Through their union she birthed three children: David, Damion and Dawn. Dion became a homeowner in 1985.
Dion worked as a driver and was promoted to supervisor at United Parcel Service where she worked for 13 years, In September of 2002 she began working at the Case Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging, where she remained working as a supervisor until her retirement in October 2015.
Known for her beauty, intelligence and keen sense of humor, Dion touched many lives through her generosity and caring spirit. Family was the most important thing to her, and she was always there to support her loved ones in any way she could. She also loved traveling, all types of music, dancing, crocheting, and sports (especially women’s basketball). Even into her ‘70s she was learning languages (Spanish and Dutch), but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Dionn Boyer was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on February 23, 2026, at the age of 74.
Dion was preceded in death by her parents, Constance T. Bryant and J.D. McCann, siblings Bruce Bryant, Donna Lawrence and Dale Thompson, cousins Jane Buster and Anthony Hailey, nephews Derrick Lawrence and Doral D. Thompson.
Dion is survived by her children Damion J. Boyer (Evelyne), Dawn M. Boyer and David A. Boyer (Alexandra); grandchildren Joaquin, Isabella and Dahlia Espinosa, Dane and Nola Boyer, and Josephine, Miles and Silas Boyer; aunt Precious G. Hailey; sister Darrell (Norman) Smith; cousins Yolanda (Sody) Smith, Adrian Lipscomb, and Anderson Hailey; nieces and nephews Damon, Carla, Norman Jr., and Cameron Smith; Darla, Lisa, and Vanessa Lawrence; Christopher, Yvette, Renata, and Dreena Thompson; and a host of friends and other relatives.
