Don was a really awesome tug team anchor and was an awesome man in so many ways. He made things really fun for all of us while working at the Akron Health Department.. I never saw him play football but I can imagine how good of a player he was. He was the health department arm wrestling champ and I'll never forget how he almost put my hand through the staff meeting table. Don was such a great guy and he had a really great family, Any time spent with Don Ellis was a good time. I learned so much from him. So sorry to hear of his passing. May God bless and keep his family strong.

"Big D", You were one of my dearest friends at the Akron Health Department! You were also my mentor! I remember you telling me to have money from my paychecks put into Deferred Compensation so I could have a large nest egg for retirement. You were right! You were our anchor on the AHD tug-o-war team for Corporate Challenge. We had an awesome team! I have so many fond memories of you and the AHD Gang that I won't forget! I know you're now free of all ailments & resting easy in the arms of Jesus! Godspeed! Mary, Russell, David & Jakob, You're in my thoughts and prayers! I think of your family often and my heart breaks for you as you mourn the loss of Don. He was loved and respected by everyone at the Akron Health Department! I really missed him when he retired! I'm sure he's with Quean Reese and Janet Johnson talking about the old days! Love & Peace, Mary xxxx
