Doretha Lewis was born on October 7, 1940, in Monroe, Alabama, to the late Matthew and Idevia Stallworth.
Doretha attended the public schools of Akron, Ohio and graduated from Buchtel High School.
She accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of the Original Church of God, under the pastorate of Pastor Jeffries. She was a very active member of the Adult Choir, Sunday School Treasury, Kitchen Ministry, and Landscaping. On June 25, 1960, Doretha was joined in holy matrimony to Harold Lewis.
She adored her husband of 61 years, and from this union came four beautiful children. Through sickness and health they lived their lives according to God’s will and purpose. She was truly a model homemaker. “A Proverbs 31 woman”
As the matriarch of the family, she set the direction and the tone. She was the disciplinarian while also being a voice of reason. She mastered in solving conflicts, she had a curt, but a comical way of solving anything. All who knew Doretha, grew to love her for her sense of humor, being a mediator and friend. She was well known for her passion of baking and landscaping.
Doretha was called from labor to reward on Wednesday, September 8, 2021.
She was preceded in death by her sons; Darryl C. Lewis and Charles N. Lewis.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Harold Lewis, Akron, Ohio; brother, Charles B. Stallworth, Akron, Ohio; daughter, Carla Kenner (Nathan), Cleveland, Ohio; son, Curtis Lewis (Dora), Akron, Ohio; two grandsons, Davonta Milbry and Dayvon Milbry, both of Akron, Ohio; and a host of extended family members and friends.
