“A life that Touched So Many Others”
Our beloved Doris N. Bell went home to be with the Lord on February 2nd, 2023, at the age of 76.
Doris, born to Willie and Rose Darden on February 2nd, 1947, in Warrenton, Georgia. A member of the church from a very young age, she was baptized and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior when she was a teenager. Doris was active as a member of several churches throughout her life. She enjoyed singing, served as a Sunday School Teacher, Youth President and wherever she could be of assistance to her church and her Pastor. Doris would often say, “I don’t want to leave this earth without fulfilling my purpose.”
After moving to Cleveland, OH., Doris attended school and would graduate from Glenville High School. While in school, Doris realized her passion for helping and caring for others. After graduation, Doris went on to become a doctor’s assistant with Kaiser for 43 years until she retired.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, Doris loved and had a strong bond with many of her nieces and nephews and cousins. Doris would take time to listen and counsel many of her family members. She was known for her compassion and wisdom. Anyone could be open and honest when talking to Doris knowing that they could trust her, and that she would listen without judgment.
Doris battled chronic health issues and illness throughout her life. But she was strong, she was a fighter and would recover from a number of ailments. And even in her last days she believed God would supernaturally heal her on earth, but He chose to heal her in heaven instead.
Doris is survived by her daughter Dawn Darden of Columbus OH, her son David Bell (Tamara) of Cleveland, OH; her adopted son and daughter Michael McCreary (LaWanda Forte) of Raleigh, NC and Taneisha McCreary; two sisters Eldrene Darden and Vera Hood of Cleveland, OH; one brother Ricky Darden of Cleveland, OH; and 7 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
