Doris Jean “Dot” Jones was born on March 25, 1952, to the late George W. and Hannah L. (Johnson) Williams and was the second oldest of eight children. Preceding her in death were her brother, Jimmy Seymour, and sisters, Sharon DeLoach and Gurlena Al-Khabir.
Dot was a creative, loving, and family-oriented woman who enjoyed crocheting, writing poetry, creating games, and spending time with loved ones. A graduate of East Technical High School, she later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Management, graduating magna cum laude, and served as Director of the One Stop Shop in Student Affairs at Myers College. In 1982, she married her beloved husband, Bryan Jones, and together they shared 44 wonderful years of marriage while raising their children, Dari and Brion. Dot was known for making holidays magical, especially Halloween and Christmas, and she deeply treasured her grandchildren, Brion Jr. and Braelynn.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Bryan; daughter, Dari; son, Brion Sr.; daughter-in-law, Michelle; her grandchildren; her surviving siblings, Catherine (Bartha) Moore, Georgia Mae (Samuel) Campbell, Edwina Cook, Lawrence Williams Sr., Jake Williams Sr., George Lentuor (Mildred), Raymond Owens-Johnson Sr., LaShaunda (Michael) Simmons, and Veronica Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and loved ones. Her love, strength, and joyful spirit will be forever remembered.
