Doris Marie King was born December 27, 1941, in Port Gibson, MS to Emma Ruth and Elvin King, Sr. She was educated in Claiborne County Public Schools in Port Gibson, MS, and graduated from Alcon State University in Lorman, MS.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. She was united in marriage to LeAndrew Cadney and to this union, three children were born.
After living in Cleveland, she joined Imani Church on March 10, 1996, initially under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Monte E. Norwood, currently under the leadership of Pastor Michelle Humphrey. Doris served on the Greeters Ministry for a number of years, a member of the Comfort Ministry, Harvest Fellowship Ministry, and Clothed in His Love (Clothing Ministry).
Doris was preceded in death by her father, mother, stepmother, and three brothers.
She leaves to cherish her memories four daughters, Sandra (Jerry) Cawthon of Lithonia, GA, Jeanette (Bruce) Collins of Euclid, OH, Barbara (Herbert) James of Franklin, GA, and Linda Cadney of Dayton, OH; four sisters, Bessie Johnson, and Viola (James) Patterson of Milwaukee, WI, Patricia King, and Carolyn Early of Columbus, OH; seven grandchildren, Courtney Boston of Atlanta, GA, JaVier, XaVier and Alexis Collins of Euclid, OH, LaQuan Cadney-Marables of Dayton, OH, Austin and Ashton James of Franklin, GA; and two great-grandchildren, Jaiden and Robyn Boston, Atlanta, GA; along with nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
