On April 28, 2019, at the age of 82, God saw fit to call his loving and faithful servant home to be with him so that she could REJOICE IN PARADISE.
Doris L. Roberts was born the seventh child of Cornelius Wright Sr. and Callie Langford Wright on February 4, 1937. She graduated from A.H.Parker High School in Birmingham, Al and went on to pursue a successful 50 year plus career in Cosmetology and eventually owned a beauty shop. One magical day in 1958, Sherman Roberts was thirsty and decided to stop in a convenience store to purchase a beverage and that’s where he laid his eyes on the LOVE OF HIS LIFE. On August 20, 1960, they were joined in holy matrimony and three daughters were born from this union.
Doris Roberts was a devoted and dedicated member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church for over 60 years where she served in the capacity of Usher, Stewart Pro-Tem, Sunday School Teacher, Director of the Youth Department, Choir Member and her longest assignment Treasurer.
Preceded in death by parents Cornelius Wright Sr. and Callie Langford Wright; brothers, Cornelius (Queen) Wright Jr., Caesar (Carrilla) Wright, Leo (Mildred) Wright, James (Ernestine) Wright; sisters, Elizabeth Lacy and Edna Mae Wright.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband of 58 years, Sherman L. Roberts; daughters, Colette Whiting (Arthur Hall), Cynthia (Ralph) Lee, Casandra Roberts, and Karin Craine; grandchildren, Camron Roberts ,Cedric Craine, Kara Whiting, Kylan Whiting, Jourdain Roberts-Lane, Jadyn Roberts; sisters, Mattie Mae (Johnny-deceased) Richardson, Cora Little, Lois A. Foster, Harriett Hare, Sandra Bumpers, Altherstine (Tina) Brown; honorary grandson,William Leach; god daughters, Lanell Johnson, Hope Anita-Smith; son in law, Herb Whiting; brothers-in law, Leonard M. Foster, David Mobley (Ginger), Craig Thompson, Shelton Thompson; special nieces, Leslie Leach, Cathy Thomas, Lynette Nettles, Lashawna Grimes, Regina (Alfred) Johnson, Maranda(Gregory) Gay, Deborah Neal, Terri Brown; special friends, Ann Potts, Ann Lardell, Evelyn Porter, Rev.
