Doris Williams (Wyatt) was born on September 29, 1936, in Port Gibson, Mississippi to parents, Robert and Jeanette Wyatt. On July 30, 2024, she was peacefully called home to her eternal resting place.
She graduated from East High School. She was a devoted member of the Arlington Street Church of God since 2017, active in Sunday School, Bible Study and Connection groups until she was not able. She was a former member at Wesley Temple AME Zion Church of Akron for years, active with the food ministry with her friend, Rose Skinner, founder. She was also a past member of St. John Christian Methodist Episcopal Church of Akron for 15 years, under the leadership of Rev. Arthur S. Green, as the President and VP of the Stewardess Board and a member of the Missionary Society and sang in the Women’s Day Choir yearly and sometimes the Chancellor Choir. She frequently joked, saying she couldn’t hit a tune. She retired from Chrysler Corporation, UAW Local 122 after almost 30 years of service. She was reported as kind, loving, sweet and always helping others, but could roll her eyes. I called her quiet storm. She will be missed dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Jeanette Wyatt; son, David Wyatt; brothers, Bennie and Joseph Wyatt; uncle, Nathan Wyatt Sr.; cousin, Nathan Wyatt Jr.; cousins, Joanne Burke and Eunice Britt and niece, Sonia Dalton-Strong.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Lorinda Irby (Brunson); sister, Carolyn Pryer; grandchildren: Anthony, Damean Brunson I, David Wilson, Juanita (Alan) Burden and Breanna Fox; great-grandchildren: Damean Brunson II, Laila and Ellis Brunson and Niam Wilson; nephews: Alfred Strong II, James (Rebecca) Sims, Sam (Kaleista) Pryer, Gary (Patricia) Wyatt, Steven Brown and a host of other relatives; sister-in-law, Shirley Swain-Wyatt and friend, Eva Peterson.
