Dorothy Anne Johnson was the youngest of two children born to Aria Beatrice Johnson (née Jones) and Alex Brett Johnson, on November 20, 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio. Both of her parents and a stepbrother, Alex Brett Johnson, Jr., preceded her in death. Dorothy (“Aunt Anne” as she was affectionately known to her family) attended Moses Cleveland Elementary School, Alexander Hamilton Junior High School and graduated from John F. Kennedy Senior High School in 1967. She also attended The Ohio State University (OSU) for one year. Dorothy left OSU after four of her roommates were killed in a fire in their dorm.
Dorothy worked for the Veterans Administration and the Social Security Administration, for most of her professional career and retired from government service. Dorothy loved children, her family and her circle of friends. She also loved to entertain and was a great cook. Later in her life, she met Rudolph (“Rudy”) Rimmer, a Cuyahoga County Deputy Sheriff, and they married on August 20, 1977. To this union, a son was born, Christopher McKinley Rimmer. Dorothy and Rudy spent most of their 47 years together traveling to exotic places and enjoying their motor home trips across the United States.
She joined the Liberty Hill Baptist Church under the leadership of the late M. E. Wilson. Dorothy often played the piano during Sunday School, as did her mother, Aria B. Johnson. After an extended illness, Dorothy passed away peacefully on Monday, September 2, 2024, at the age of 75.
