Today, we come to celebrate the life of Mrs. Dorothy Jean Woolfolk. She was born April 13, 1930, in Cleveland, Ohio to Mr. and Mrs. Allen C. and Rose Lee Smith who preceded her in death. Dorothy was married to Anthony Fleming Sr. who preceded her in death. To this union was born one son, Robert Fleming. She later married George B. Woolfolk. The two of them were blessed to adopt the daughter of Dorothy’s son, Robert Fleming, from birth – Valencia D. Woolfolk – and raised her as their only daughter.
During her lifetime, Dorothy worked for Bowman’s Appliances for twenty five years and General Electric Aero Sciences for fifty years. After retirement she continued to work for Samia’s Transportation for ten years transporting youth and seniors back and forth to school and to doctors’ appointments. She had a tremendous heart in caring for others. While pursuing her career, Dorothy still found valuable time providing for Valencia and her great-grandson Keith. She enjoyed shopping and driving all over Cleveland with her family.
Despite health challenges, Dorothy lived at her home in East Cleveland with resilience until 2024 when she was admitted into Beachwood Pointe Care Center for ten months. On January 14, 2025 she went home to be with the Lord at Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital. Although her passing was hard to accept, the family understood that the will of God must be done.
Dorothy shall be remembered as a sweet, loving, nourishing, and generous mother and as a person who met no strangers. She was kind to all. She lived a good life, enjoying being fashionable and glamorous in her dress. She felt that a woman ought to look good. The family is so very grateful for the ninety four years she spent with them . Now she is resting in peace.
Dorothy leaves to mourn her passing one son, Robert Fleming (New York); stepson, Anthony Fleming (Washington); granddaughters: Valencia Dawn Cleveland), Ashanda M. McConnell (California); one great-grandson, Keith Woolfolk (Cleveland); and a host of nieces, nephews other family members, and friends.
