CELEBRATION OF LIFE
Dorothy Ruth Campbell, affectionately known as “Dot” was born March 5th, 1939 in Albany, Alabama to the late Earline Glaze and Edward Card. Dorothy was the eldest of 10 siblings.
She later relocated to Cleveland, Ohio where she attended John Hay High School and received a certificate in sewing. Dorothy accepted Christ at a young age and later joined New Covenant Lutheran Church where she was an active member. For 35 years, Dorothy worked as a finisher at TRW and PCC Airfoils. Her hobbies included gardening, baking, sewing, taking trips, volunteering, and her favorite Cleveland sports teams, whether good or bad.
At the center of her beautiful life was an inspiring love story. In 1959, Dorothy and William Campbell united in marriage. They shared a rare and extraordinary bond – a partnership built on unwavering loyalty, laughter, and a love that only grew stronger with time. It was through this union that they were blessed with three children: Tonya, William and Tyrone.
Together, they created a life filled with warmth, resilience, and cherished memories. Their love was not only seen but deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to witness. Dorothy remained deeply devoted to her beloved husband of 62 years until his final days in 2021 when God called him home.
Dot was a woman of many beautiful qualities. She was the heart of the home- the one who brought everyone together with her warm smile, wise words, home-cooked meals, and unconditional love. She had a gift for making others feel seen and cared for, whether through comforting hugs or the simple joy of her presence. Dorothy had a best friend/sister, Tony Lindley who she spoke to every night before bed and shared a glass of wine while talking on the phone.
Early 2025, Dorothy suffered a debilitating stroke, requiring multiple hospital admissions and rehabilitation. After several arduous rehab journeys, she was sent home with family to comfort her
remaining days. On March 9th, 2026 God called her home, with her family by her side. Her children cared for her along with her caregivers Marianne Card, Bonnie Sneed, Arnetta Williams and Ms. Rose.
Dorothy lived a full and vibrant life. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that her love and light will always continue to guide us.
