Dorothy Singleton (McNeal) was born in Pace, Mississippi on August 14, 1929 to the late Jessie Woodley and Walter McNeal. She was the youngest of three.
Dorothy graduated from John Hay High School in 1947.
On April 16, 1949 Dorothy and Elester Singleton united in Holy Matrimony. To this union four children were born; Elester Singleton Jr., Arnetta J Moore, Anthony D. Singleton, and Nichelle L. Lacey.
Throughout her life she was employed at Euclid Sportswear and Premier Industrials as a packager. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, and spending quality time with family. Family was very important to her so she made sure to find time to help plan family reunions. It was important to her that we all knew one another and remained close.
On March 24, 1985 Dorothy joined Affinity Baptist Church with her daughter Arnetta under the late Reverend James E. McJunkin. She became a member of Oasis and the usher board. She loved serving the Lord and attended church nearly every Sunday. She faithfully folded the Sunday programs by hand for many years.
In 2016, Dorothy relocated to Phoenix, Arizona where she resided with her son for some time.
Early Thursday November 28, 2024 Dorothy departed this life to be with the Lord while resting peacefully in her bed. She was 95 years old. She was proceeded in death by mother Jessie Woodley, father Walter McNeal, brother Joseph Woodley Jr., sister Sylvia Foxworth, husband Elester Singleton, and daughter Arnetta Moore (Allen). She leaves to mourn son Elester Singleton Jr. (Rose), Anthony Singleton (Patricia), and daughter Nichelle Lacey (Ronald), grandchildren Demond, Daryl, Tamika, Kimberly, Toni Lynne, Savanah, EJ, Bre’Ana, Branden, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She also leaves to mourn her niece, Margaret Foxworth, nephew Colie Foxworth and a host of other relatives and family in Christ.
