Douglas Antonio Patterson, Sr. “Butchie”, (52) was born in Cleveland on February 17, 1971, to Douglas Patterson III, of Cleveland, Ohio and Stephanie (Haynes) Berry of San Marcos, Texas. He departed this life on July 11, 2023.
Douglas committed his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Open Door Missionary Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio, where he was very active in the youth ministry. He attended Cleveland Public Schools and graduated from Aviation High School. After graduating, he attended Tuskegee University and The Ohio State University. Douglas also served in the United States Army Reserves.
Douglas later moved to Columbus, Ohio, where he met and married Kimico Dale. Joined to this union were three sons and one stepson. He became a member of New Salem Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio where he and his family attended.
Douglas was a “jack of all trades.” He often assisted his father as a professional promoter of the arts and coached little league football. Nonetheless, the joy of his life was his sons. He was passionate about instilling his love of sports and life skills into his children.
Through the knowledge he gained from his stepdad, he later became a housing contractor. He established his own business, “1st Class Enterprises, LLC”, renovating commercial and residential properties. He also had a franchised business called “Dream Makers” which specialized in kitchen and bathroom renovations.
Douglas was well known as an adventurous risk taker! He was a fan of riding motorcycles and camping out with family. In his later years, he discovered the love for classic cars and founded a club called “H.A.R.D. Rydaz C.C.”
Most notable, Douglas loved his family!! He was a devoted father and was intentional in creating his own special bond with those he loved. His family was everything to him. He was known to his family as “Butchie”; however, in Columbus, he was the honorary mayor, known as “D-Roc.” Douglas had a sense of humor and was always known to crack jokes and bring life to a party! It was never a dull moment when he was around. His eyes and smile would light up a room, making any occasion fun and enjoyable. Douglas was also known for his caring and gentle spirit. He had a heart of gold; always willing to help those in need.
Douglas leaves to celebrate his life, his wife: Kimico Dale Patterson; his sons, Douglas A. Patterson Jr., Dominic A. Patterson, Demetrius A. Patterson, and step-son, Jowuan T. Dale; mother, Stephanie Y. Berry [Frank]; father, Douglas Patterson III; sisters, Donia D. Revels [Anthony] and Danyelle D. Conner [Daniel]; step sister, Mawanda Wheatly [Mark]; nieces, Jasmine C. Frierson and Danita Y. Conner; nephew, Daniel L. Conner II; step niece, Destinee White; great nephews, Juelz R. Head and Jet R. Head; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
