Douglas was born on January 19,1954 to John and Lillian Scott. He attended Michigan Public Schools and Western Michigan University. Douglas later moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he met and won the heart of Patricia L. Ross. After a short courtship, they were married and relocated to Akron, Ohio.
Douglas was an avid ‘BID WIZ’ card game player and had his own club. He also enjoyed traveling, family outings and backyard grilling. His aura was so bright and natural even strangers felt like family. Douglas knew the Lord as his personal Savior and was ordained as a Deacon under the leadership of Bishop Celia L. Ross.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, John & Lillian Scott; father and mother-in-law, Louis & Bishop Celia L. Ross; daughter, Kimberly Anthony and E’Quaina Ross-Dancy, brother-n-law, Allen E. Fite and sister-n-law, Nikchole Caldwell.
He leaves to celebrate his life and legacy his devoted wife of 33 years, Pat; daughters, Letitia Jackson and Jameela Scott, Atlanta Ga.; 2 sisters, Vicki (Eddie) Jackson, Midway Fl., and Janet (Billy) Marshall of Michigan; sister-n-laws, Shirley (Gabriel) McCorvey of Conyers, Ga., Evang. Iris (George) Love of Phoenix Az., Gwendolyn Fite, Brunswick, Oh, Ranodia Ross, Akron, Oh; and brother-in-law, Louis Ross, Akron, Oh; 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, extended family Brian, Amel and Etana Dillinger of Akron, Oh, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Take your rest my dear Doug, dad, grandpa, papa, brother, and uncle. You were an amazing husband and father, son, brother, and friend to all of us, and we will cherish your memory forever. You are already missed so much by your family, and we loved you, but God loved you most. You stayed the course; you lived life to the fullest and so we say to you ‘REST ON.’
