Douglas Law was excellent in his school he received his Associates Degree in education. He was born into the Church of God in Christ in, 1990 under the leadership of Bishop F.E. Perry. He worked diligently, served on the trustee board, and mentored the young men in the church. After the passing of Bishop Perry, he moved his membership to New Jerusalem C.O.G.I.C., under the leadership of Pastor Stanley Lockhart, and now under Pastor John Grimes. Everywhere he served was a great help to the pastors.
Deacon Law loved to work with his hands, he could fix and build almost anything. He demonstrated his love for others by helping anyway he could. So many pastors and church members would call on him for his service. He was famous for his banana pudding. It would be a request at every meal by his family and church family.
Douglas had (2) sisters, Queen Poole, and Theresa Law. (3) brothers; John Vaden Law II, Purnell Law, and Donald Law, who proceeded him in death. He leaves to mourn, Velma Toliver of Cleveland, Ohio, Cornelia Wiley of Pittsburgh, PA, Daisy Law, His brother Levi Law of Cleveland, Ohio. His (3) daughters, by previous marriage, Tara Law of Atlanta, Ga, Sherley Shelvin, and Kim Thomas of Texas. Seventeen Grand and great grandchildren of Texas. Along with all his Nieces, Nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
He also left to mourn his memories, his wife of thirty years Ethel Law, his daughters, Joy Alexander, Michelle Miller (Edger). His son Deondre Law who is currently serving in The United States Marine Corps (his wife Khamesha), sons Michael Law, John Law, and Ronald Law who proceeded him in death. Daughter’s, he raised, Christina Hawkins, Norma Taylor. Grandchildren Cierrah, Malieka, Jaylen, McKenzie, Khamya, Rylee, Parker, Makayla, Khamani, Deondre Jr., Jaylee, Nomi, Dallas, and Halani. God-daughter Mallory Woodall.
Deacon law served 28 years in The United States Army, retiring as a Master Sargent. He worked in Motor Transportation. He loved being in the service. He always wanted to tell his stories of all the places he had been, and things e had experienced. He received many awards for his accomplishments. He took pride in wearing his Army retired Military hat.
He worked at the United States Postal Service in Akron, Ohio as a letter carrier, and retired at the age 62. Douglas was a hard worker and received awards for his excellent service. Douglas met his wife Ethel Law in Akron, Ohio where they both worked for the United States Postal Service.
Douglas was a good husband who took excellent care of his wife and had pride in his home. He loved to work around his house keeping his yard and grass in tack. He spoiled all his children and he believed in taking vacations. He would plan vacations every summer and whenever the kids had a break from school. He was a good father making sure all the kids took care of business when it came to education. He believed in having sit down dinners. He took part in all the sports activities for the boys, basketball for Deondre, football for Michael, and John. Swim team for the girls, and whatever activities they had. He was an excellent granddad, making sure they had what they needed. He will be greatly missed, but he will continue to live in the hearts and Minds of his family and friends. He was a good Neighbor, always willing to give a helping hand, all the young boys on the street knew him as Pop.
