Durrell JayVon McCarty “DJ” age 32, of Akron of Ohio, passed away suddenly Monday, June 29, 2020.  He was born August 24, 1987, in Akron to Angela Langston & Antonio McCarty.  He attended Akron Public Schools.  DJ also excelled in sports, Football, Judo, & Karate.  He enjoyed his family, hanging out with friends and watching sports, especially his boys the new England Patriots.  DJ also loved traveling to Rochester, New York to spend time with his paternal family whom he adored.  He never met a stranger and when he did it was not for long. He was always the life of the party, displaying that warm infectious smile.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandmothers, Willie Mae Braziel and Jessie Lee Thompson; grandfathers, James Langston, and Nadir Shareef; and sister/cousin Kiamesha Tionne Minton.

He is survived by his mother, Angela Langton of Akron Ohio; father, Antonio McCarty of Rochester NY; children, Dream, Preshas, Lyric, and Kingston McCarty all of Akron; loving grandmothers, Jeanette Langston of Akron Ohio, and Phyllis Kay Thompson of Rochester NY; sister, Jada M. Langston; sister/cousin Yasmine (Larry) Gills of Akron; aunts, Carla Langston of Akron, Jessica McCarty, Knaknuu (Michael) Greer of Rochester NY, Elizabeth Hatcher of Cleveland Ohio; uncles, Corey (Elaine) Minton of Rochester NY, Frankie (Lynette) Thompson of Akron Ohio; nephew, Taaj Lamont Clifford; special friend/ companion, Erica Herring; godmother, Angela McCall of Shelby Township Michigan; special cousins, Robert Thompson “Lil Bob”, Marcus and Ivory Lewis, Brandon Wallace, Carl Beecher, and a host of other family friends and cousin
