Earnest Dearmon was born June 5th, 1946 to Luther Dearmon and Donnella Archer. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at home.
Earnest was raised by his father Luther Dearmon and maternal grandmother Mary Brown Dearmon. From the time he was young he was very proud and determined. He was a boy scout and also attended St.John’s Catholic School. In 1965 he graduated from Garfield High School and then worked at First National Bank before joining the U.S Navy. He eventually served in Vietnam. After returning home he was employed at Metro Regional Transit as a driver where he worked for 30 years. When driving the SCAT bus he was famous for replying to pickup requests from dispatch “Sometime Today”, which meant he was close and would get to it shortly. While working at Metro he met and married Lynette Eason of Dry Branch, GA. That union blessed them with their only son Darkeus Emanuel Dearmon. After her passing Earnest took on the role of raising their son with the love and values that his own father had instilled in him. After retiring from Metro Earnest took a part-time job taking children with special needs back and forth to school from Akron to Columbus. He also worked at Thomas Limousines, where he met various celebrities and professional athletes.
In 2014, love found it’s way back into his life when he met Sheila Shuttlesworth in Akron, OH. They eventually married on August 15th, 2020. They lit up each other’s lives until the day he was called home. Earnest truly loved his family and always helped whenever he could. He always had a word of advice mix with wisdom and humor. He was known for being a great pool player. He also enjoyed music, sports, dancing and hosting gatherings through the years.
Earnest was preceded in death by Father Luther Dearmon, mother Donnella Archer, grandmother Mary Brown Dearmon. Brothers Bernard, Andrew, Moses and Charles all of Richmond VA. Sister-in-law Lisa Taylor of Akron OH. He leaves to cherish his amazing memory; loving wife Sheila Shuttlesworth Dearmon. Son Darkeus Emanuel Dearmon, step son Charles “CJ” Williams both of Akron, OH. Adoring siblings, sister Maureen D Tall of Akron, OH. Brothers Henry and Emrick Green of Richmond, VA. Father-in-law Willie Taylor of Akron, OH. Doting Sisters In Law Lillie Archer of Richmond, VA. Tane Taylor of Akron, OH. Devonna Taylor of Birmingham, AL. Brother-in-law Theo (Ben) Shuttlesworth of Akron, OH. Special nieces Vivian Powers Smith (Vernon) ,Vanessa Tall of Akron, OH. Vinnie May, Belinda ,Shashawn Green , Shawnta Archer Bailey( Carlos) of Richmond, VA. Dedicated nephews Terry Archer of Richmond, VA. and Victor Moses Lash of Akron, OH. Lifelong close friends Earnest “Frog” Rogers and Carl Ingram. Along with a host of great nieces nephews family and friends.

All of us who were Earnie’s friends at Garfield Senior High School back in the day, will miss seeing him from time to time. He was a Very loyal and loving neighbor in South Akron. He was forever and ever, a Garfield Golden Ram.
Always taking care of all his friends with that wonderful smile on his face and laughter!. A fun fellow to be around at the Roller Cade, Rubber Bowl, Community Center, etc. We all had so much fun.
