Eddie “Darnell” Lorenzi Sr. was born on September 21, 1956, in Cleveland to the late Erismeldo Lorenzi and Delores Coleman-Lorenzi. He departed this life leaving behind a legacy of love, service, hard work, and devotion to family.

Eddie Darnell attended Cleveland Public Schools and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1974. As the oldest son, he embraced responsibility at an early age. Family was always at the center of his life, and while his mother worked, Eddie helped care for his younger siblings, demonstrating the selflessness and dedication that would define his character. At the age of sixteen, he became a certified lifeguard, an accomplishment that reflected both his strong work ethic and his desire to serve others.

Seeking new opportunities and a brighter future, Eddie Darnell enlisted in the United States Army in 1977 at the age of 21. During his military career, he was stationed at Fort Hood. It was in the Army that Eddie further developed his natural leadership abilities, earning the respect of his peers and advancing to the rank of First Sergeant. After faithfully serving his country, Eddie received an honorable discharge from the United States Army in 1980. He remained immensely proud of his military service throughout his life and maintained a keen interest in current events, politics, his community, and the affairs of the nation he faithfully served.

Also in 1977, Eddie entered into marriage, and from that union were born two beloved sons, Eddie Darnell Lorenzi Jr. and Martino Lorenzi. Eddie was a loving, dedicated, and protective father. Wherever you saw him, his sons were often close by. He was a family man through and through, finding great joy in gathering with loved ones. His vibrant personality, unmistakable voice, and larger-than-life presence ensured that everyone knew when Eddie had arrived—and usually what was on his mind. His family was always his first priority, and he never hesitated to offer a helping hand whenever one was needed.

Throughout his life, Eddie held a variety of jobs and took pride in every role he performed. Among his most memorable positions were serving as a parking attendant supervisor and later as a distribution representative for L’Oreal. After retiring from L’Oréal, Eddie remained active and hardworking, becoming what many affectionately considered the most dependable and energetic DoorDash driver around.

Eddie Darnell enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved dancing, music, sports, swimming, and spending time outdoors. He was an avid supporter of the Cleveland Browns and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite team. He was also known for faithfully trying his luck as a lottery player. Whether enjoying a family gathering, discussing current events, or spending time outdoors, Eddie brought enthusiasm, laughter, and authenticity to every moment.

Eddie leaves to cherish his memory his beloved sons, Eddie Darnell Lorenzi Jr. (Alyisa Lorenzi) and Martino Lorenzi (Tyesha Kilgore); his cherished grandchildren, De’Carlo, Halo, Emiliano, Joanie, Ta’Mari, Martino Jr., Ar’Mari, and Tanyla; his loving siblings, Ana Ramos (Alberto Ramos) of Puerto Rico, Trina Overton (Robert Overton), Darren Lorenzi Sr., and Dean Lorenzi Sr. (Fatima Lorenzi); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones.

Though Eddie’s physical presence will be deeply missed, his spirit lives on through the many lives he touched, the family he loved so dearly, and the legacy of service, strength, laughter, and devotion he leaves behind.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
