Eddie Maxon Pierson was born April 15, 1934, in Clanton, Alabama, to Felton and Mary Jane (Benson) Pierson.
Eddie’s Christian journey began at an early age when he was baptized at Morning Star Baptist Church in Clanton, AL, when he was 11 years old.
He was an active member of Affinity Missionary Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio, until he departed this life on March 8, 2023, at the VA Medical Center.
He went to Chilton County Training School in Alabama and later moved to Cleveland in 1951 to work for General Motors. He served in the United States Army in the 3rd Tank Division from 1956-58.
Eddie married Bettye Sue Barbour on September 20, 1963, with each bringing one daughter to the marriage, Linda and Connie, and to this union, two daughters were born, Terri and Tina.
Eddie was co-owner and operator of Discount Auto Body Shop for over 50 years with his brother Cleo Pierson. They had a special relationship, and both were members of the Prince Hall Masons.
Eddie was a simple man with a kind heart whose calm nature moved others. His light-hearted personality brought laughter to everyone. He was always ready to share wisdom and advice that he gained through his lifelong experiences. He enjoyed fishing and watching sports, especially his Cleveland Cavaliers.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Felton and Mary Jane Pierson; wife, Bettye Sue Pierson; siblings, Katie Racheal Friend, Vernilla Marie Holt, Lawrence Felton Pierson, Jesse Atkin Pierson, and Mary Elizabeth Pierson-Hill.
He leaves these family members to cherish his memories: daughters, Connie Barbour of Clanton, Alabama, Linda White, Terri Darcell Pierson, and Tina Lyne Pierson of Cleveland, Ohio; longtime companion Julia Bell and her son Comas Bell (Bertha); brother, Cleo Theford (Elnora) Pierson; grandchildren, Bernard Battle Jr., Ebony Felica Sandford, Maurice William Darnell Barbour, and Tevin S. Pierson; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Inez (Clifford) Johnson, Gloria Barbour, and Dora Barbour; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.
