Eddie Ray Lackey, age 88, passed away on February 28th, 2023.
Eddie Ray Lackey was born to the late Cleveland Lackey and Grace Brewer (Lillian Lackey) in Porterdale, Georgia on June 23, 1934.
Eddie Ray was educated within the Porterdale, Georgia school system until migrating to Detroit, Michigan, with his eldest sister Leslie Lackey-Gaither. Shortly after high school, he married his high school sweetheart Jean Claudette Rock. From that union, five children were born. He began working for the Chrysler Corporation at the tender age of 18 as a skilled Tool and Dye Maker. He later transferred in the late 1950’s to the Chrysler Corporation Plant in Twinsburg, Ohio.
Eddie Ray accepted Christ at an early age by joining St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio where he sat on the Deacon Board. He was fortunate to retire from Chrysler Corporation with 30 years of service at the age of 48. After retirement, he started a landscaping and snow plowing business. He was an avid bowler and golfer who occasionally golfed in numerous tournaments with NFL players and TV personalities. He also loved teaching the teen golfers at Shawnee Golf Course. Eddie Ray was the President of the Cycle Kings Motorcycle Club Inc. in Cleveland, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Jean Claudette Lackey, siblings Willie Clarence, Ernest Lee Sr., Fred Sr., Johnny Charles, Willie Gene, Barbara Ann, Annie Laura, Betty, Eloise and Leslie; two granddaughters, LeChea and Rose; and three great-grandchildren, Destinee, Dion and Davion
He leaves to cherish in memory his five children: Daryl Sr. (Tina), Derwin, Natalia, Carita (Reginald Sr.) and Charita; four brothers; Sidney (Brenda), Robert Lee (Linda), James and Dennis. Grandchildren: Nateasha, DeMonte, Kaliah, JaCara, Daryl Jr., (Miranda), Tianna, Janyah, Darielle, DeMario, Damien, Charielle, Lamar III, Shaquille (Jacqueline), Turand, Maleea (Nick), Dracy, Latasha, Kianna. Great-Grandchildren: Tyla, Brent, Lamonte, Montino Jr., Draydon, Marcus, Madison, Amiah, Montana, Madden, Daryl III, Caleigh, Legend, Charles, Chase, Allie, Shaquille Jr., Kobe, Gianni, Jax, Jada, Kiora, Madyson, Bruce, Bryce, Leea, and Chase. Two Great-Great Grandchildren: London and Ayani. He also leaves a host of loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Eddie Ray was an outstanding father, grandfather, protector, provider, and did not play about his family.
