Edna E Wilburn was born in Greenwood, Mississippi to the late Archie and Rose Wilburn on July 14, 1943. The youngest of ten children, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Joseph, Archie Jr, John, Sylvester, James and three sisters Lula Barron, Bessie and Pleasana Wilburn.
Edna accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of Avon Avenue Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio. Edna was a product of the Cleveland Public School System graduating from John Adams High School. After having a couple of jobs, she worked at Hillcrest Hospital assisting others until she retired after 35 years of service.
She was an avid reader with her own library of books, videos, and word puzzles. Auntie was a member of a bowling league for years. She loved listening to blues and jazz music and watching old Westerns. I recently found out that she liked “Michael Jackson” music. We both laughed when I tried to moonwalk or told her we were going to start a line dance class at Solon Point Senior Living. We planned to have a picnic for her friends in the summer and she provided me with a menu and details. Ricky planned a fishing trip for her during the summer as well. Her biggest food passion besides “Fried chicken thighs, and wings, or corn beef” was tater tots. A day out was riding around Walmart on her cart “shopping” or just enjoying nature.
She loved her family. Edna leaves to celebrate her life, brother, Roosevelt along with nephews, Sonny Barron, Alvin Barron, Alvin Wilburn, Danny Wilburn, Ricky Wilburn, Lorenzo Wilburn, and Oscar Wilburn Her nieces included Rose Ann Barron Reid, Denise Barron, Verdie Wilburn, and Rosarie Cummings, a host of family and friends.
She passed peacefully into well-earned rest on November 25, 2023.
We will miss you, Edna. God Bless and rest in peace.
