On March 8, 1943, Edna L. Thomas (Yarber) was born to the parents of James Yarber & Lottie B. Holmes (Sandler) and two older sisters: Alice Mercier (Yarber) and Wonnie Reynolds (Yarber). In later years, Edna was blessed with two younger siblings, Elaine and Renee Yarber. While living in Cleveland Edna accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age.
In her adolescence the family relocated to Muskegon, Michigan. In 1959 Edna joined in Holy Matrimony to David Oliver Evans, Jr. She was blessed with two beautiful children: Natasha Eva Evans and David Oliver Evans III.
In 1963 Edna moved back to Cleveland where she was employed by Cleveland Twist Drill. During a lengthy employment, she met Willie Thomas, and they were married in 1974. Edna decided to enroll in Cosmetology School and became a licensed cosmetologist. She was an excellent hair colorist. Later, she worked for the Cleveland Regional Transit Authority up until her retirement with 20 years of service.
Edna’s passion included shoe and purse shopping along with listening to her favorite artists Jahiem and The Commodores. She was a quiet soul who loved spending time with her family and sharing meals. She was especially known for her sweet potato pies.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children one daughter, Natasha Eva Evans-Hoxie, one son David Oliver Evans, III. Six grandchildren; Diondre, Dannette, Danielle, Tara, Brianna and Alexis; nine great-grands; one great-great grandchild. Three sisters; Wonnie Reynolds, Elaine and Renee Yarber and a host of nieces and nephews.
After a long illness on Sunday, February 1, 2026, Edna L. Thomas transitioned from this life and was welcomed into her eternal home of glory.
Those who preceded her and joined the lord included her mother Lottie B. Holmes (Sandler), her beloved husband Willie Thomas, her sister Alice Mercier (Yarber), her son-in-law, Gary M. Hoxie and dear friend (almost sisters) Geraldine Hoxie-Williams.
