Edna Stokes-Woods, a resident of Aventura in Walton Hills, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and deep devotion to her family and community.
Edna shared her talents professionally as a Computer Programmer Trainer. Outside of work, she was a woman of many passions. She was a dedicated bowler who thoroughly enjoyed competing in leagues for many years. A woman of deep faith, Edna was an avid worker at Greater Avery AME Church, where she selflessly served her congregation.
Known for her soft-spoken yet comical personality, Edna was a genuinely nice person who loved children and spent much of her time talking and laughing with them. Her home was always open, warmly welcoming family and friends at any time. She was an awesome cook whose specialty was her famous homemade pound cake. Edna found immense joy in baking for others to show her kindness, and she especially cherished life’s milestones—experiencing pure happiness when her child was married and when she was blessed with grandchildren. Her playful, competitive spirit will fondly be remembered through her favorite catchphrase, “I’ll beat cha!”
Edna loved her family fiercely. She was one of seven siblings (three brothers and three sisters.
A Celebration of Life service will be held to honor Edna’s beautiful spirit and the profound impact she made on all who knew her.
