Edrick Harold Brooks Jr. was born on May 16, 1962, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Edrick Harold Brooks Sr. and Lucille Elma Oliver.
Growing up in Sunny California, Lucille taught him to have a personal relationship with God. As a devoted Jehovah’s Witness, Edrick lived his life based on the principles of Jehovah.
Edrick attended Santa Ana Valley High School where he excelled in math as well as sports: track and football. High school is also where Edrick found a niche for dancing and joined a pop, lock crew with his lifelong friend, Bernard Collins. After high school graduation, Edrick relocated to Cleveland, Ohio where he attended Cuyahoga Community College for Electronics. He also received a degree in Machine Tool Technology from Cleveland Machining Institute.
In October of 1982, Edrick met/married the love of his life, Terrie Lynn Johnson, and the union was blessed with three handsome boys, Edrick Elijah, Terrell Dedrick, and Demetrius Lyndell, and two beautiful daughters, Jakiya Jean, and Jawanda Obrianicole. On February 10, 1993, Edrick was employed at the Mid-West Forge Corporation as a CNC Machinist, where he served for 30 years.
In his free time, Edrick loved spending time with his family more than anything. Whenever he was having a good time with those he loved, everything was perfect for him. In addition to his family, he loved to work on cars, dance, cook, play cards, and crack jokes. Edrick had an infectious, positive outlook on life. He was never too busy to lend a helping hand which ultimately led to him being affectionately known as “Big Chief.”
On March 10, 2023, Edrick answered God calling him home. He was preceded in death by his father, Edrick Harold Brooks Sr.; mother, Lucille Elma Whitlock (Paul Von Whitlock); and three brothers, Brian Keith Brooks, Lawrence Darrell Brooks, and Edrick Harold Brooks III.
Edrick Leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 41 years, Terrie Lynn Johnson Brooks; his children, Edrick Elijah, Terrell Dedrick, Demetrius Lyndell, Jakiya Jean, and Jawanda Obrianicole; grandchildren, Ariel, Lyric, Wynter, Jawaun, and Stephanie; siblings, Vicky (Michael) Jones, Anthony (Kenyatta) Brooks, Michael Whitlock, Shawn Whitlock, Vincent Whitlock, Toris Thornton, Renee (David) Warren, Tanisha Whitlock, Diana Whitlock, and Tanya Whitlock; as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
