Edwin Smith Jr. was born in Uniontown, PA June 6, 1955 to the late Edwin C. Smith and Wilma Jean Jones-Smith. Edwin attended Brownsville Area High School in Brownsville, PA. He grew up under the loving care of his paternal grandmother and grandfather Elvira & Royal Smith lovingly known as mommy and Roy. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Robert Morris University, Pittsburgh, PA.

After moving to Cleveland, OH he became a police officer. Edwin was a dedicated police officer with Cleveland Police Dept. He moved up the ranks quickly and retired as a Lt after 30+ years of service. Edwin was an active member of the Black Shield Police Association and the Fraternal Order of Policeman’s Association.

He was united in holy matrimony to Gina Vanfield-Smith September 25, 1982. Edwin had a special love and talent working with his hands. He liked working on cars, fixing or remodeling his house. He was an avid lover of old school music and old cars. He loved his family and he was always there to lend a helping hand to others when called upon.

Edwin Smith Jr. passed away Monday, December 11, 2017 at Wickliffe Country Place after an extended illness. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, parents and a host of aunts and uncles.

Edwin leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 35 years Gina Smith (Euclid, OH), one son Rasheme Jones (Tampa, FL), a very special niece Shawna Smith, a sister Veronica Lynn Smith-Walkins (Pittsburgh, PA), a brother Terrence Smith (Cheryl, Shaker, Hts., OH), a brother Darrell Smith (known as Petey, Pittsburgh, PA) and a host of other special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and friends whom will all miss him very much.
