Kenneth Donald Moorer, Sr. was born on May 14, 1938, in Akron Ohio. He attended Akron Public Schools and after graduation from East High School, enlisted in the United States Army, where he was honorably discharged after serving. When Kenneth came home from the service, he married his high school sweetheart, Delores Brown. To this union, four children were born.
Kenneth accepted his calling into the ministry while a member of Prayer Tower COGIC. He was employed as an electrician at General Tire & Rubber Company for 37 years 6 months 20 days and 4 hours. He was the last person to leave the building and lock the door. He loved his family and he loved his yard. He would cut his grass twice a week and ride around the yard checking the gardens and his prized hibiscus. The only thing he loved more, was the Lord. He worked tirelessly at church as 1st Associate Pastor of Cascade Faith Ministries, along with the food program for Tower of Prayer COGIC, until his passing.
Kenneth was preceded in death by the love of his life Delores Moorer, and his firstborn, Kenneth D. Moorer, Jr., his parents, Richard and Viola Moorer, siblings Willie B Lewis, Gertrude Holt, Martha Amos, Richard Moorer, Jr., Dahlia Woodie, Melvin Moorer, Florence McDonald, and Charles Moorer.
He will be remembered with love by his children, Monica (Melvin) Howard, Douglas (Shelley) Moorer Sr., and Vanessa Chavis; grandchildren, Jason (Stephanie) Howard, Tosha Moorer, Brianna Chavis, Leigha Howard, Douglas Moorer Jr, Ashleigh Moorer, and Kiera Moorer; great-grandchildren, Jaleah Howard, Joy King, Orion Howard, and Janelle King. He also leaves his siblings, Mary Woodie, Lawrence (Lee) Moorer, and Lorretta Patterson; sisters-in-law, Ethel Carmichael and Ruby Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, family, and special friends, “The Tenors” Hugh Motley and Joe Konkiel.
