Elisha A. Hamilton was born on July 2, 1937 to Mann and Adelle Bryant. She was devout Christian, and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at a young age. She joined Royal Family Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Late Pastor Eloise C. Corbin, and served faithfully as one of the Mothers of the church until her health prevented her participation.
She was united in holy matrimony to John Lee Hamilton. She had one son Howard Bryant. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was passionate about caring for and playing with her great grandchildren. To them, she was affectionately known as Suga Sug. She loved to cook, sing and spend time with her church family.
Elisha leaves to cherish her memory, one grandchild Howard Hudson (Marlena); four great-grandchildren, Shawna Brock (Michael), Shawnte Manning, Howard Hudson Jr. and Paris “Paula” Hudson; and six great-great grandchildren, Marcus Brown, Mar’Quan Brock, Michael Brock, Shai’vonna Duke, Nakiyah Simpson and Rashad Simpson, and a nephew Steve Thomas, and a host of relatives and friends.
After battling dementia and kidney disease, Elisha died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, October 7, 2019 at Euclid Beach Healthcare nursing home. She was preceded in death by her husband John Lee Hamilton, son Howard Bryant, and six brothers Reverend William Bryant, Deacon Oscar Lee Brown Sr., Deacon Ernest Bryant Sr., Deacon Hollis Bryant Sr., Mr. Charles Brown and Mr. James, and two sisters Mrs. Laura Ponder and Mrs. Bessie Duncan.
Grandmas hold our tiny hands for just a little while, but our hearts forever.
