Elizabeth Marie Curry was born in Birmingham, Alabama on March 4, 1935 to the late Pastor Harold and Lucy Weaver. Elizabeth, who we all called Liz, received her diploma through the Cleveland Public School Extension High School.
After a brief courtship, Liz and Willie were married on March 1, 1958. They were married for a total of 52 years.
Anthony was Liz’s only biological child. However, she also raised a special niece, Norkitta. Years later she helped raise Devontae Sr., Devontae Jr., Shamanique, Kevontae, Vershawn, and twins Michael Leone and Leone Michael. Family was very important to Liz!
Liz worked a few different jobs in her life. Liz was a waitress at the Manner’s Big Boy. She worked as a seamstress for Bobbie Brooks. She also worked 18 years at the Cleveland Clinic as a Ward Secretary and from there she retired.
Liz accepted Christ at an early age and continued serving the Lord throughout her adulthood. She was one of the founding members of the Philemon Community Baptist Church that her father organized in 1975. She was also a founding member of the Gospel Choir. Liz was a faithful member of the church until her health began to fail.
God called Liz home on Thursday, July 24, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband Willie James Curry and sister, Joyce Norman. She leaves to mourn, son Anthony, grandson Delvonte Allen and Tevin Morgan, great grandson Delvonte Allen. She also leaves to mourn sisters, Phyllis Cummings, (Ralph), Yvonne Townsend (Charles), brothers, Harold A. Weaver and Ronald Weaver (Emma), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
