Elizabeth Dobrski (nee Johnson) was born July 19, 1946 in Charleston, S.C. to parents Charlie Johnson Jr. and Annabell (nee Dent) (both deceased).

Liz (as everyone knew her) was raised by her paternal grandparents, Charlie Johnson Sr. and Lila (nee White) (both deceased) and as such, she had several aunts and an uncle who all grew up as siblings: Lucille, Estelle, Evelyn, Grace, Corinne, Margaret and Norman.

She was the wife of nearly 21 years to John Dobrski Jr. who preceded her in death.

Liz was mother of two sons: Hiram (Stephanie) and Slaughter Jr. And one daughter: Rhonda.

She was grandmom to Shaina, Steven, Da’Twan (Amy), Slaughter III, Andre’, Alliyah, Faith, Robert and Michael and great-grandmom to Heavenly, Hailey, Aidan, Payton and Kobe.

Sister to Mark (Esther), Ben (Barbara), Willie (Chun-Ok), Lou (Dennis), Ruth (Burt Sr.) and Nathaniel (Lilly). She was the surviving sister to Ernest, Joseph, Alvin, Charles, James and Lucille who all preceded her in death.

Liz was aunt to many nieces and nephews and had several cousins.

Liz was baptized at the age of 12 at Enoch Chapel Church in Charleston, where she also directed the youth choir. She attended Bonds-Wilson High School and graduated from the Hayes Educational Center. Later, she received an Associate Degree in Business at Myers College.

Liz had a lifelong love of driving and many of her career moves allowed her to pursue her passion: Driving taxis, school buses and city buses. Her final position before retiring was as a Transportation Supervisor, in the city of Cleveland.

Liz was also very active in the church and in charity work. In 2005 she founded a social service charity called, “Sisters Ink-Oh” She and 14 other members helped provide food, housing, clothing, shoes, furniture, appliances, health care and transportation to those in need. While having fund raisers for local and out-of-state churches, meals to community shelters and domestic violence and child advocacy meetings in the local communities.
