The Legacy of Elizabeth English On May 30, 2026, Elizabeth (Liz) English went to sleep, departing from this earthly life; and awakened in the arms of Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior, to live in Eternal Life. “And her works shall follow her” (Revelation 14:13)
Elizabeth English was born December 25, 1940, in Sunflower, Mississippi to the late Willie Seals and Callie (Rodgers) Nettles-Seals.
Elizabeth graduated from John Hay High School as an LPN and worked at University Hospital. She discovered her true calling of working at Gino’s Jewelers as an accounting where she retired after 50 plus years. Elizabeth was also a member of The Order of The Eastern Star. Her greatest joy was serving as a member at First Greater New Zion Baptist Church in any capacity the Lord requested of her.
Throughout her life, Elizabeth found strength in the gospel and maintained a personal devotion that was steady, humble, and sincere. During her health challenges, Elizabeth remained strong, resilient and grateful. She found joy in meaningful conversation, reading, traveling, and staying connected to family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her loving husband of 39 years, Robert Lee English, son Craig Fitzpatrick, stepdaughter Vanessa English, five brothers, Willie Nettles, Sylvester Nettles, A.C. Seals, Tommie Seals and Jessie Seals, three sisters, Ester B. Jones, Josephine Merriweather and Irene Lott.
To celebrate her life and carry on her memory, her loving son, Reginald (Fredda) Fitzpatrick of Phoenix, Arizona, stepdaughter Brenda Carter (Jesse); grandchildren Dierra (Amani) Lukeba, Pierre Fitzpatrick, Blake Adams and Charnissa Carter; great-grandchildren Marie and Celina Lukeba, Pierre Jr, Dejawnte, Isabella Fitzpatrick, Kevion (Tiffany), Kuri Adams, Riccardo Ivy and Raphael Ivy; great, great grandchild Karmani, sister, Mae Ella Cassel, three Sisters-in-Law, Alene Mosley-Scott, Patricia A.
