Elizabeth Patterson passed on Tuesday,  April 9, 2019.

Elizabeth  was born on October 15, 1932 in Montgomery, Alabama to her parents, Henry and Janie Brisbon, who preceded her in death and was the fourth oldest child of a family of 8 sisters and brothers.

Elizabeth graduated from Washington High School in Mt. Meigs, Alabama, where she was an active basketball team player who played competitively with many teams in the community. Coming to Akron in 1954, she joined Phillips Chapel C.M.E. Church and ushered for many years. Later in life, she fellow-shipped and joined St. John C.M.E. Church where she served on the usher board and was over the finances for many years. Elizabeth was a faithful and active member and was always supportive of church events until her illness. Liz was employed at Akron Towel Supply, which later changed to Uniwear, where she retired after 30 years of service.

Once in Akron she met the love of her life Mr. Carl Patterson and married speedily in a short 3 months. The relationship lasted for a grand total of 60 years, until the passing of her beloved husband in 2014.  The marriage had the gift of raising five children.

Liz loved to play cards, Bid-Wisk, especially, and had a great love for horses. She sold many dinners and always attended every family reunion. She was also like the spokeswomen that would tell the family story. She loved to make you laugh and make funny faces and give out good advice to help you. She will be dearly missed for her smile and the love she chose to share with everyone. No matter what you might have done she still loved you even when she was upset with you.

Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents; Henry and Janie Brisbon; husband, Carl Patterson; brothers, James Brisbon (Mookie Alabama), Lee-Edward Brisbon, Isaiah Brisbon (Shot), sister, Mattye Trawick; and son, Jerome McDade.

Elizabeth is survived by her beloved daughters; Annette McDade, Linda (Hezikiah) Edwards, Cynethia Patterson; son, Jamie Patterson; grandchildren, Lawrence ( Nicole) Christian, Herdy (Michelle) Chrisrtian, Mellisa (Zek) Boyd, Eric McDade, Lynise( Steve) Sims, Daisha Patterson, Paul Patterson, Chareasa Pitts; 11 great-grandchildren, 6 great great-grandchildren; Sisters, Rebecca Crosky (Montgomery, Alabama) Estella Bushner (Akron); In-law, Mary Rogers (Akron); Special friends, Juanita,  Adeline, Gracie, Ms. Dampier; cousins, Pinkie and Willie; and the late Ms. Curry, Ms. Charlotte Ms. Gilla; and a host of many family and friends.
