Elizabeth Betty Rice was born August 27, 1943 to the late Charles Worthy and Elizabeth Pruitt-Rice in Union, South Carolina.
Betty’s life was rooted in Religion and it was that spirituality that guided her to confess her love of the Lord and to be baptized at a very early age.
Although she was unable to complete her formal education, she knew the importance of hard work and education. Through her guidance, moral teaching her children graduated high school, college, and obtained advanced degrees. During her lifetime, she enjoyed cooking, nurturing her loving family, and continuing the family legacy.
In 2023 she developed intestinal problems having several operations and was placed in an assisted living facility until her untimely departure on Monday February 19, 2024.
Betty touched many lives and showed her love and devotion to all who encountered her kindness, and wisdom. She was mother to those who were motherless. And a Godmother to children who needed love and affection along the way. She was proceeded in death by her parents and her brother Roosevelt Rice.
She leaves to cherish her memory her Brother Willie J. Rice. Her devoted children Donald Rice (Katherine), Kenneth Shujaa Rice and Angela Renee Rice and her granddaughter Dawn Elizabeth Rice. And a host of nieces, nephews and friends. And a multitude of God-children in the community. Rise In Power.
