Ellis Cobb Sr “Chico” was called home to Glory on Saturday, October 25, 2025. He peacefully passed in his sleep at South Pointe Hospital. He accepted Christ as a teenager knew and loved the Lord.
Ellis was born in Cleveland, Ohio on March 23, 1958. He was the fourth born of seven children to Devotie Cobb 11 and Carrie Bell Cobb who both preceded him in death.
Ellis attended Cleveland Public Schools. Longwood Elementary, Central Jr High and Woodland Job Corp. He received his high school diploma in Lima, Ohio. His favorite colors were brown and beige. His favorite pastime was to go fishing with his number one partner JuneBug, but he never ate fish. But, sit some pot roast, rice, and broccoli in front of him and it would disappear before you could turn around, those were his favorites. He hated cornish hens, he would call them the nasty bird lol.
Ellis also loved clothes, singing and dancing. Clothes, he would not leave the house until he made sure every piece was in place and perfect down to a matching hat or cap. Singing, he could sing you every Temptation song word for word and watch his two favorite movies over and over “The Tempataions” and “Five Heart Beats”. Dancing, hand dancing was his thing and he was smooth like butter on the dance floor. He was a ladies man and all the women loved him. No one could come close to or compare to Chico’s swag other than his son Butter! He hated liars and was scared of the dark. He was a true Clevelander and loved all of Clevelands sports teams. (Brown’s, Cav’s and Guardians).
Ellis held jobs with Pully Brothers, DE Rose Company, and A1-Liquidators. But his main jobs were at Dollar General, Family Dollar, Walmart, and back in the day Woolworth. For those who know you know lol.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Luther Foster “June”, sister Christine Cobb Moore “Chris”, sister Martha Bell Jackson “Bee”, and sister Cherin Cobb “Cheri”.
He leaves to cherish his memory his son Ellis Cobb Jr “Butter”, his sons mother “Betty Crenshaw”. His grandchildren Ellis Cobb 111, Montez Cobb, E’lasia Cobb, Princess Ellis Cobb, and Nai’e Cobb. His siblings, Elbert Foster “Bay”, Carrie D “Lois”, Devotie 111 “Mickey”, Jacqueline “Jackie”, Athena “Tina”, and Tressy “Tress”. His auntie Margaret and his uncle Richard. In 1983 he met the love of his life Lender Linder and were together for 42 years. In loving her he became stepdad to 5 children Charles Jr “Bam”, Marvin “Merv”, Clint, Dion “Roni”, India “Kizzy” Along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, extended family and friends.
