Elvert Lonnie Blue, born in Akron, Ohio to the late Susie Johnson Blue and L.V. Blue, was born April 2, 1957. He went to be with the lord on May 31, 2024.
“Blue” attended South High school and graduated Class of 77. He accepted God at an earlier age at St. John Christian Methodist Church. Although he may have strayed, his faith stayed the same.
He retired at the age of 50 from Kenmore Construction, Local Hall 894. Just before retirement at the age of 47, “Blue” opened his life-long dream CMB Auto Sales, fulfilling his lifelong love of cars. CMB Auto was named after his childhood sweetheart, Carol McGruder Blue.
Carol and “Blue” shared 50 years together and they rededicated their life to Christ together. In that union they shared two beautiful children, Lonnie Blue and Shatoria Blue and 11 grandchildren, Keyschell, Aaliyah, Lonnie, Tavion, Christopher, Jaxson, Piper, London, Chase, Dailyn, and Paris; and 2 great grandchildren, Juelz and Kay’lani.
“Blue” enjoyed long road trips down south and family gatherings in his back yard. Known for his thoroughness, sarcastic humor and being upfront, he had a soft side for family. On top his many accomplishments, “Blue” took pride in the appearance of his front and back lawn. Looking good was a part of “Blue’s” lifestyle.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Susie Blue; father, L.V Blue; mother-in-law, Sue McGruder; sisters, Linda Blue and Neida Thompson; grandson, Lonnie Blue and niece, Eureka Thompson; and brother-in-law, Philip Shackelford.
He also leaves behind sisters, Barbara (Henry) Cargil, Emma Jean Benson (Clarence) and Judy Blue; and brother-in-law, Eugene Thompson, along with a host of family members and friends.
