Elvira Cumby, age 88, was called to her heavenly home on September 18, 2021, at Cleveland Clinic/Akron General Hospital in Akron Ohio. She was born on November 15, 1932, in Montgomery, Alabama to parents, King and Louise Snow.
Elvira grew up in Akron, Ohio. She graduated from West High School in Akron in 1950. After high school, she attended the School of Nursing connected with City Hospital of Cleveland, located in Cleveland, Ohio, where she received a Registered Nurse Certification. She worked for Akron Children’s Hospital, first as a RN, then was promoted to Head RN and retired as Assistant Director of Nursing, where she received multiple awards during her 43 years of service.
Elvira married James Warren in 1953 in Akron. She divorced and remarried in 1970 to Venson Cumby. She was a member of the Ed Davis Senior Citizens Organization. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, watching Cleveland Browns football games, going to the casinos and traveling.
Elvira was preceded in death by her parents, King and Louise Snow; aunt, Anna Henderson, and uncle, Richard Weatherly, Akron, Ohio.
She is survived by her daughter, Diana Lynn Harris; her son, Darryl Warren (Dena); her sister, Rose Snow; her grandchildren, Talbert Warren, Akron, Ohio, Talitha Braggs (Anthony), Jonesboro, GA; her great grandchild, Talaina Warren, Akron, Ohio; and her nephew, Michael Carey, Los Angeles, CA and a host nieces, nephews and other relatives.
