On May 17, 2019, Ernest Emory Jr. snuggled warmly into the arms of the Infinite One. Ernest was born on March 21, 1929, to the late Ernest Emory Sr. and Onia Emory in Harlem, Georgia. He moved to Cleveland, Ohio at a very young age.
Ernest married Mildred Magdalene Pippens on February 2, 1952, and three children were born of this union, Vicky Elaine Emory, Ernest “Ricky” Emory, and Erik Howard Emory. Ernest worked for Ford Motor Company (Brookpark) for 45 years until his retirement. He was a member of Open Door Missionary Baptist Church.
Ernest was a longtime Cleveland Browns fan and season ticket holder for many years. Even though he lived in Cleveland, Ohio he was a die-hard Atlanta Braves fan as well.
Ernest always spoke about his childhood in Harlem, Georgia and as a little boy, feeding hogs and raising chickens. Due to his mischievous ways as a child, he was always running from trouble and got the nickname “Fox” from his childhood friends.
Ernest enjoyed his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death his brother Ed Willie Emory.
Ernest Emory Jr., leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 67 years Mildred Magdalene Emory (Cootie), one daughter Vicky E. Emory of Cleveland, OH, two sons Ernest “Ricky” Emory (Lisa) of Richmond Heights, OH and Erik H. Emory (Kim) of Lithonia, GA; one sister Eliza Emory of Harlem, GA; seven grandchildren Nicole Emory, Rodney “Mann” Emory (Dominique), Thomas Emory, Anthony Emory, Kyle Emory, Sonny Emory, and Joey Emory; five great-grandchildren Sierra Emory, Sean Walker Jr., Jamir Emory, Gianna Emory and Carter Emory; sister in law Dorothy Taylor; and a host of loving nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
