Ethel Mae Wright, also known as Ann, was born on Valentine’s Day 1945. She was the fifth of eleven children born to Bossie and Daisy Curry in Camden, South Carolina. There, she attended the local public schools. At 17, Ann married Henry Lee Wright, and they began their journey together. After the birth of their first child in 1963, they left the South and moved north, eventually settling in Brooklyn, New York. Together, they were blessed with six children. In 1966, they joined her parents at Mt. Sinai Cathedral Church of God in Christ in Brooklyn. In 1986, she moved to Wooster, Ohio, and continued stewarding her family.

There, she received her AA degree in Early Childhood Education and Brain Development. She then earned a childcare license and opened her own childcare center. While expanding her career and her home, she became a foster parent and took in children in need of a loving family. In 1996, she happily adopted another daughter.

Ann especially, enjoyed long walks, fishing, playing the guitar, cooking and hosting large family gatherings. Most of all waking up early each morning before sunrise to read her bible and spend quiet time with the Lord. In 2008, she purchased her own home, of which she was very proud. Throughout her life, Ann carried a spirit of profound love and service. She mothered her nieces and nephews alongside her own children. She never sought the spotlight; she simply turned it onto everyone else so they could shine. She made everyone feel cherished and loved, as if they were her own. Her smile and gentle spirit lit up the hearts of each person honored to receive it. Her legacy is a shining example of how to walk in faith while serving the Lord. Our Ann has always been, and will always be, the lighthouse — that beacon of hope that leads us back to God as our center when life brings challenges and uncertainty.

Our family is left to navigate this new season without having her physically with us. On Sunday, June 14, 2026, our beloved mother and matriarch departed this earth to be present with her Lord and Savior. Our Ann will forever be loved and greatly missed.

She leaves behind  her daughter Della Mae Wright, daughter Barbara Jackie Wright, daughter Vanessa Ann Prawl (son – in-law Gabriel Prawl Sr.), daughter Jamilla Latasha Waller (son- in-law Reginald Waller), son Henry Demorris Wright (daughter  in-law Saran Wright), daughter Melissa Donta Morrison (son in-law Emmanuel Morrison),  daughter Myesha Carroll, and Bonus daughter Jackie King. 16 grandchildren, and 13 great grands: Alisha Wright(Avery, Adrian, August), Quashawn Wright(Kyrian, Angelo, Noah, Lorenzo), Edward & Gabrielle Prawl- Davis (Harper Lily-Ann), Gabriel Prawl Jr.(Xzavier, Josiah), DeSha Arnold(Deya, Tala, Kaydo) Charles Wright, Ayana Wright, Jackwelyne Ann Prawl, Kahlia Wright (Ameela), Owen Thompson III, Hezekiah Prawl, Henry M. Wright, Hezakiah Carroll, James Wright, Jamala Knight, Jaila Carroll knight. Godchildren; Dwight Curry, Tara Llyod, Nicole Wright, Anthony  Walker and Tatilya Ann Martin. Her remaining siblings Mary-Rhetta Lloyd, Louella Davis, Stella Frutrell, Daisy Martin, Threasa Curry and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, bonus children and friends. Preceding her in death; her husband Henry Lee Wright, her parents Bossie and Daisy Curry, siblings James Curry, Inez Council, Grace Curry, Jannie Bell Richardson and Leroy Curry.

Dear Lord, take my hand and lead me. The kindness of your grace has and always will be my pillar of strength. Through you I’ve prepared myself for this journey so take my hand Lord and take me home.
