Eugene Duke Cavin Sr., age 94, went home to be with the Lord on November 19, 2022.
Eugene Duke Cavin, born January 26, 1928, in Alligator, Mississippi; to parents Norwood Cavin and Elvira Marshall (both preceded him in death).
Eugene grew to become a very religious man, who put his trust in the Lord. He was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church and then later Morning Star Baptist Church.
He worked almost 20 years for Avis, at Cleveland Hopkins Airport transporting passengers. He also had his own Upholstery shop, where he did excellent work with his craft.
Eugene was married to
Hope Bruton. There were 7 children of this union. He then later married Virginia Sheller There were 5 children of this union. (both wives preceded in death). He spent over 20 years sharing his life with Berniece Cousar (preceded in death).
He had 12 children, Lowell, Hope (preceded in death), Eileen, Maxine (preceded in death), June, Jean, (preceded in death), Sandy (preceded in death), Rebecca, Eugene Jr; Thomas, Dennis, and Nancy.
He also had 40 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
Eugene served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was stationed in San Diego, California. He never liked being on the ship and the water.
His hobbies included an array of things, but he loved hunting rabbit and fishing. These activities were enjoyed with his dear friend Bob Sims.
He stayed in shape by his daily walk to Dave’s supermarket or Angie’s soul food. He was very meticulous about keeping up with his doctors’ appointments and health.
Daddy/Grandpa we will miss you dearly. We will miss your stories and funny jokes. Rest In Peace. We love you.
